Description. Body black, shining, antennae and palpi brown, tarsi brown to black.

Male ( Figs 2 View FIGURES 1–2 , 35–36 View FIGURES 25–48 , 202 View FIGURES 202–207 ). Head. Anterior margin of epistome straight, surface with dense and moderately coarse punctures. Frons and genae weakly convex, surface with dense and moderately coarse punctures. Dorsal surface of head with dense and moderately coarse punctures. Eyes transverse, anterior margin shallowly emarginate. Antennae ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : A) reaching pronotal base, antennomeres II–VIII short cylindrical and thicker at apex, IX–X nearly spherical, XI sharped-oval. Length (width) ratio of antennomeres II–XI 24 (17): 50 (18): 30 (20): 28 (18): 31 (17): 31 (18): 33 (20): 29 (21): 28 (24): 31 (22).

Prothorax. Pronotum ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : B) transverse and weakly convex, 1.4 times as wide as long, 1.8 times as wide as head. Lateral sides widest at middle, arcuately narrowing toward base and apex, weakly emarginate anterior to base. Ratio of width at anterior margin to widest part and base 25: 37: 36. Anterior margin deeply emarginate, posterior one straight at middle, weakly emarginate laterally. Anterior angles nearly rectangular, posterior ones rectangular, sharped apically. Anterior and posterior margins edged laterally, entire lateral margins edged. Dorsal surface with sparse and moderately coarse punctures on disc, dense and coarse at sides. Prothoracic hypomera with longitudinal wrinkles and sparse yellow setae. Prosternum anterior to procoxae with yellow setae, prosternal process sharply sloping behind procoxae, apex not projecting beyond level of procoxae in lateral view.

Pterothorax. Elytra elongate-oval and strongly convex, 1.4 times as long as wide and 1.3 times as wide as pronotum, base wider than pronotum and widest at middle. Surface with sparse and coarse punctures, fine wrinkles. Lateral margins of elytra merging with outer margins of epipleura anterior to apex of elytra and reaching sutural angle, visible at base in dorsal view.

Abdomen with sparse yellow setae, ventrites 1–2 flattened at middle.

Legs. Profemora stout, with sparse punctures and yellow setae. Protibiae ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : D) gradually widened toward apex and curved to inner side, underside not concave at apex, inner side with dense yellow hairbrush from middle to apex. Protarsi ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : C) as wide as apex of protibiae. Meso- and metafemora longer than profemora. Mesotibiae ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : E) gradually widened toward apex, with yellow setae and rufous thick setae. Mesotarsi ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : F) narrower than apex of mesotibiae. Metatibiae ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : G) straight, with yellow setae and rufous thick setae. Length (width) ratio of pro-, meso- and metafemora 21 (9): 24 (8): 31 (8), that of corresponding tibiae 20 (5): 20 (5): 28 (6), and protarsi 24 (30): 37 (57): 26 (45): 22 (34): 56 (19), mesotarsi 30 (27): 37 (43): 31 (37): 25 (28): 57 (19), metatarsi ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : H) 95 (25): 44 (24): 33 (21): 68 (21).

Aedeagus ( Figs 2 View FIGURES 1–2 : I–J, 35–36) 2.4 mm long and 0.7 mm wide. Parameres 0.9 mm long and 0.4 mm wide, widest at base and narrowing toward apex, slightly sharped apically, distal part curved ventrally in lateral view.

Female ( Fig. 203 View FIGURES 202–207 ). Body wider, antennae not reaching pronotal base, abdominal ventrites 1–2 not flattened at middle, pro- and mesotarsi not widened, other characters similar to male.

Measurements. Body length: ♂ 9.5–9.8 mm, ♀ 10.0– 10.5 mm and width: ♂ 4.4–4.5 mm, ♀ 4.8–5.0 mm.

Type material. Holotype: ♂ ( MHBU) , CHINA: Sichuan: W Yajiang County, 4385 m, 15–18.VII.2001, Xiao- Dong Yu & Hong-Zhang Zhou leg., coll. IZCAS . Paratypes: 2♂♂, 1♀ ( MHBU) , 1♂, 1♀ ( IZCAS) , same data as holotype .

Distribution. China: Sichuan.

Diagnosis. This new species is similar to Bioramix (Cardiobioramix) chinensis ( Kaszab, 1940) , but can be distinguished from the latter by the following characters (based on male): (1) lateral sides of pronotum strongly protruding outward at middle (weakly in B. chinensis ); (2) elytral surface without metallic sheen and traces of rows of punctures (with in B. chinensis ); (3) parameres longer, distal part more arcuately curved ventrally in lateral view.

Etymology. This species name is derived from its strongly convex elytra.
