Records from Indonesia. Between Kei Besar and Kei Kecil Islands, and in the Arafura Sea. Depth range: 336–401 m ( Casanova 1996).
Remarks. This species can be distinguished from the other species of Lophogaster by its apex of the antennal scale which possesses a sharp, medium spine with 3 small serrate spines on the anterior part of the outer margin (sometimes 4 to 6). The lateral margin of the telson is armed with 3 pairs of spines, the posterior tip with 2 pairs of spines and the apical plate bears 7 short spinules and 2 long bristles ( Băcescu 1985).
