Smicromyrmilla Suárez 1965a: 570 , type species: Mutilla ariasi André 1896 , by original designation.
Two species of Smicromyrmilla occur in the Palaearctic and 16 species occur in the Afrotropical region ( Lelej 2002, Nonveiller 1973). The genus is recorded for the first time from Pakistan. The differences between Smicromyrmilla male and related Oriental Eosmicromyrmilla Lelej & Krombein 2001, Hindustanilla Lelej 2001, and Cameronilla Lelej 2001 males are noted in Lelej & Krombein (2001). The genus Smicromyrmilla is placed in the subfamily Ticoplinae, tribe Smicromyrmillini.
