Diagnosis: This species is very similar to A. (A.) amurensis Radoszkowski, 1876 and A. (A.) pseudomontanum sp. nov., but this species can be distinguished from them by the following combination of characters: female, metasomal terga black, without yellow maculation or sometimes with very small yellow maculations, ventral scopa reddish ( Fig. 13a View FIGURE 13 ), T2 punctures roughly same size throughout, with a similar number per area, apical margin of clypeus irregularly serrate to bumpy, outline nearly straight medially ( Fig. 13b, 13c View FIGURE 13 ), punctures on supraclypeal area sparse ( Fig. 13c View FIGURE 13 ), T5–T6 covered with yellowish-brown pubescence ( Fig. 13f View FIGURE 13 ); male, median lobe of S6 small, narrow, sub-triangular ( Fig. 14f View FIGURE 14 ), apical process of S8 spiniform ( Fig. 14h View FIGURE 14 ).

Material examined: China, Qinghai: Yushu, Baitang (33º00′N, 97º00′E), 3900 m, 1 ♀, 25.VII.1964 GoogleMaps , 4100 m, 1 ♂, 29.VII.1964, leg. Shu-Yong WANG ; China, Xinjiang: Taxkorgan Tajik Zizhixian, Hongqilafu (36º55′N, 75º33′E), 4400–4600 m, 2 ♀, 12.VIII.1989 GoogleMaps , 4500 m, 1 ♀, 13.VIII.1989, leg. Xue-Zhong ZHANG ; Zhaosu Xian, Alasan (42º31′N, 80º48′E), 2400 m, 3 ♀, 4 ♂, 22.VII.1978 GoogleMaps , 1 ♀, 2 ♂, 31.VII.1978, leg. Yin-Heng HAN, 2450 m, 4 ♀, 3 ♂, 23.VII.1978, leg. Xue-Zhong ZHANG ; China, Sichuan: Dêgê Xian, Maniganggo (31º54′N, 99º12′E), 3900 m, 1 ♀, 8.VII.1983 GoogleMaps , 1 ♀, 10.VII.1983, leg. Xue-Zhong ZHANG ; Kangding, Gongga Shan (29º28′N, 101º33′E), 4200 m, 1 ♂, 4.IX.1982, leg. Xue-Zhong ZHANG GoogleMaps ; China, Xizang: Gyirong Xian, Zongga (28º54′N, 85º12′E), 1 ♂, 18.VII.1984, leg. Ba PING GoogleMaps .

Type localities. Switzerland ( montanum ), Austria: Tyrol and Switzerland: Uri (flavomaculatum), Tajikistan: Ak-Baital Valley (North Pamir), Kigis-ui (W valley), and Balun-kul (W valley) (pamirense) .

Distribution: China (Qinghai, Xinjiang, Sichuan, Xizang); Spain, France, Italy, Lichtenstein, Denmark, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Czechia, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, Croatia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia (Crimea).

Floral association: Fabaceae ( Banaszak & Romasenko, 1998) .

Remarks: The yellow maculations on metasomal terga of the male are greatly variable, from all black to only T2 with two small yellow maculations, or T2–T3 with two small yellow maculations, or T4–T5 with two small yellow maculations, or T2–T4 with four and T5–T6 with two small yellow maculations. Furthermore, Wu (2006) identified “ Xinjiang: Taxkorgan Tajik Zizhixian, Hongqilafu (36º55′N, 75º33′E), 4400–4600 m, 2 ♀, 12.VIII.1989, 4500 m, 1 ♀, 13.VIII.1989, leg. Xue-Zhong ZHANG” as the female of the species, but the apical margin of the clypeus is not coarsely serrate, instead straight and smooth, with two distinctly lateral tubercles ( Fig. 20c View FIGURE 20 ), it is instead A. (A.) pseudomontanum Niu & Zhu , sp. nov.
