Misetus Wesmael, 1845: 212 . Type species: Misetus oculatus Wesmael, 1845 . Originally described as subgenus of Ichneumon Linnaeus, 1758 .

Diagnosis. Clypeus with a more or less developed median apical tooth ( Fig. 1 ). Mandible with two teeth. Temple short and sublinearly narrowed in dorsal view ( Fig. 4 ). Mesopleurum and lower half of propleuron usually strongly striated ( Fig. 2 ). Metasoma elongated and slightly compressed in dorsal view, with the apical margin of last tergite more or less concave (especially in females). Metasomal tergite II with thyridia large and placed far from the base of the tergite. Female ovipositor short and bent upwards ( Fig. 3 ).
