HOLOTYPE: ♂. Type locality: Brazil: Bahia, Itapetinga ,?- XI-1969, M. Alvarenga ( FSCA) . PARATYPE:One specimen. Brazil: Estado do Bahia, Villa Victoria,?-?-1890, Ch.Pujol ( MNHN).

D i a g n o s i s: Castaneous, except elytra bicolored, mostly castaneous, with 3 aggregates of yellow markings, one spot near basal margin, one angular aggregate at midelytron, one spot anterior to elytral apex.

D e s c r i p t i o n: Size: Length 8.0 mm; width 2.3 mm. Form: As in Fig. 157 View Figs 156-159 . Head: Frons wider than length of antennal pedicel ( EW /FW 50/20). Thorax: Pronotum finely punctate, with 2 tumescenses and small central fissure ( PW /PL 110//150); elytral disc slightly depressed at middle, sculptured with striate, asetiferous punctures that extend posteriorly slightly beyond elytral 1/2 ( EL /EW 210/45); metathoracic femur gradually increasing in diameter to femoral apex. Abdomen: Aedeagus as in Fig. 68.

D i s t r i b u t i o n ( Fig. 98 View Figs 98 ): This species is known from the Brazil.

E t y m o l o g y: Thetrivialname, petalosa, is a Latin adjective that stems from petalus (= broad), with reference to the comparatively broadened phallobasic lobes.
