Description. Adult (Figs 74, 75). Wingspan 8.0̄11.0 mm. Head yellowish white to light yellow. Labial palpus light yellow, shorter and stouter in male; segment II as long as III, male with long hair pencil nearly reaching apex of segment III; segment III suffused with fuscous in female. Antenna with scape light yellow, usually brown on posterior margin; flagellum light yellow on dorsal surface and fuscous on ventral surface in male, entirely fuscous in female; male with cilia as long as width. Thorax and tegula light yellow. Forewing sometimes with a black spot at base, other patterns as in P. atricha sp. nov. Hindwing dark grey. Legs as in P. atricha sp. nov. except markings slightly brighter and hind leg with tibia fuscous on inner surface.
Pregenital abdomen (Fig. 38). In male, coremata 1/3 length of abdomen; sternum VIII moderately large, rounded laterally, narrowed toward posterior end, tongue-shaped. In female, sternum VII deeply concave on posterior margin; tergum VII slightly concave on posterior margin, with a medial bump.
Male genitalia (Fig. 96). Uncus sub-rectangular, apex slightly convex at middle. Gnathos hook somewhat sinuously upcurved, sharply pointed at apex. Tegumen 2.5 times longer than uncus. Valva as broad as uncus, distal half slightly widened, with sparse and short hairs from middle to before apex; apex blunt, shortly curved inward, with dense and long hairs. Anellus lobe digitate, about 1/3 length of valva; apical bristle about 1/2 length of anellus lobe, reaching distal 1/3 of valva. Vinculum slender, M-shaped; with a pair of slender digitate processes, 1/4 length of valva and 1/2 width of anellus lobe. Saccus very slender, as long as anellus lobe. Aedeagus dilated basally, strongly curved and S-shaped distally; interior sclerite arising after base, reaching apex.
Female genitalia (Figs 115, 115a). Papillae anales simple. Apophyses anteriores about 1/4 length of apophyses posteriores. Segment VIII sub-quadrate, with sternum projected medially on anterior margin. Ostium bursae very narrow, V-shaped. Ductus bursae narrow, about 2.5 times longer than corpus bursae, with colliculum at anterior 1/3; ductus seminalis arising from below colliculum. Corpus bursae oval; signum situated at middle, basal plate rhombiform, with a hook-shaped process arising anteriorly.
Diagnosis. This species is externally very similar to P. atricha sp. nov., and the differences between the two species are given under the latter species. The male genitalia are rather similar to those of P. macrodelta in having a broad valva and a M-shaped vinculum, but in P. sigmoides sp. nov., the gnathos hook and the saccus are longer, the valva is not narrowed basally and the processes of vinculum are more slender.
Distribution. China (Hainan, Yunnan).
Etymology. The species name is derived from the Latin sigmoideus (S-shaped), referring to the S-shaped aedeagus.
Variations. The color of the forewings can vary, from light yellow to brown, or rarely creamy white. The markings on the forewing can be indistinct or absent.
