Aporotritoma Arrow, 1925

Aporotritoma Arrow 1925: 92 , 103–104. Deelder 1942: 53; Delkeskamp 1962: 68; Chûjô and Chûjô 1990: 2; Chûjô et al. 1993: 101; Park et al. 2013: 206.

Pseudotritoma Gorham of Chûjô 1969: 151–170 [lapsus calami].

Type Species. Aporotritoma jucunda Arrow, 1925 , by original designation.

Diagnosis. Body ovoid in shape. Clypeus with anterior margin weakly concave, having a complete marginal bead. Eyes finely facetted. Antenna with club of 3 antennomeres; antennomere XI transversely oval, wider than long. Mouthparts having lacinia armed with pair of hook-like teeth at apex; maxillary terminal palpomere triangularly widened, not more than 2 times wider than long; mentum elongately pentagonal. Prosternal lines long, connecting anteriorly, forming a more or less raised triangular plate. Elytra lacking basal marginal bead. Tibiae not triangularly dilated.

Distribution. India, Mongolia, Siberia, Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and eastern North America.

Number of Species. 11 [10 ( Chûjô and Chûjô 1990) + Aporotritoma pulchra (Say, 1826) , new combination].

Remarks. Most known species of Aporotritoma appear more boreal in distribution. However, along with the single Indian species ( A. jucunda ), five unidentified Tritomini from other Asian countries ( Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand) have been studied which appear to belong to Aporotritoma . Revisionary studies are needed to resolve their identities and the status of other Asian genera of the Tritomini . The following North American species is here added to the genus.
