Genus Ancylis Hübner, 1825 View in CoL

Ancylis Hübner, 1825: 376 View in CoL . Typespecies: Tortrix harpana Hübner, [1799] TL View in CoL : Europe.

Members of the genus Ancylis View in CoL have a narrow forewing with an elongate or falcate apex, often with a moderately large semicircular blotch or patch bordering the basal half of the dorsal margin. In the hindwing the base of M 2 is close to the base of the stalk of M 3 and Cu 1, and M 3 and Cu 1 are connate, stalked, or fused.

Male genitalia are characterized by a sclerotized lamelliform process on the medial margin of the tegumen near its junction with the vinculum; a well developed uncus, longitudinally bifurcate or reduced in some species; and broad, pendant socii. Female genitalia usually have a pair of elongate hornshaped signa with expanded bases. The geographic distribution is the same as that of the tribe ( Enarmoniini ), which is worldwide. Larvae live in tubes or clumps of wrapped leaves and sometimes feed on fruit of the host plant.
