Trachylophus sinensis Gahan, 1888 View in CoL
( Figs. 1–2 View FIGURE 1 View FIGURE 2 ).
Trachylophus sinensis Gahan, 1888: 60 View in CoL . Type locality: China.
Trachylophus piyananensis Kano, 1933: 261 View in CoL . Type locality: China, Taiwan.
Diagnosis. Adults ( Fig. 1 View FIGURE 1 ). Body dark brown, covered with yellowish brown hair. Antennae exceeding elytral apex by two segments in male and reaching elytral apex in female. Prothorax with a small lateral tubercles at each side. Pronotum with median longitudinal ridges and furrow on disc ( Fig. 1C View FIGURE 1 ). Elytral apex obliquely truncate and each sutural angle with a short spine. Procoxal cavities weakly angular externally; prosternal intercoxal process tuberculate ( Figs. 1D & E View FIGURE 1 ).
Male genitalia ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 ). Tegmen moderately curved in profile; Parameres stout, with length about same as basal width, covered with brown hair ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 A–C). Median lobe slightly curved with tipped apex. Median struts 1/2 times as long as whole median lobe in length; ventral plate longer than dorsal plate, median foramen rounded. Endophallus moderately thin and long, followed by an ejaculatory duct ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 D–F); Tergite VIII wider than long, apex emarginated; densely covered with short brown setae apically; Spiculum gastrale about 1.5 times as long as tergite VIII. Spiculum relictum about half of tergite VIII ( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 G–I).
Specimens examined. 1 male, Jianfengling Natural Reserves , Hainan, China, 22-V-2014, leg. Guiqiang Huang (SWU) ; 4 males, Mt. Diaoluoshan , Hainan, China, 23-V-2014, leg. Guiqiang Huang (SWU) ; 1 male, Hunan, China (SWU) ; 2 males, Jiangjunzhai , Mt. Mangshan , Yizhang county, Chenzhou city, Hunan, China, (4–6)- VI-2019, leg. Jianyue Qiu (SWU) ; 1 female, Tonggu , Zhongshan county , Hezhou city, Guangx China, V-2019, leg. native collector (SWU) .
Distribution. China: Fujian, Hainan, Hong Kong, Hubei, Hunan, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Sichuan, Taiwan, Zhejiang; Myanmar; Vietnam.
Remarks. This species is widely distributed in China, Myanmar and Vietnam. We take this opportunity to describe the male genitalia. Anatomical observations revealed variations in the male genitals of this species in the shape of the tergite VIII, the emargination in the middle of the apex of the tergite VIII.
