Type depository. Istituto Sperimentale per la Zoologia Agraria, Florence, Italy.
Type locality and habitat. Lido de Venezia, Italy, under stones washed by salt water in a lagoon. Note. In the original description, the name of this species was spelled Gamasus litoralis . G. & R. Canestrini (1882) changed it to Gamasus littoralis , and all subsequent publications on the species have used the changed spelling. We therefore retain the spelling H. littoralis in the interests of stability.
