Ceraclea luangnamthaensis Laudee & Malicky n. sp.

Figs 1A–1E View FIGURES 1

Type material. Holotype male ( PSUNHM). Laos: Luang Namtha Province, Muang Namtha, Nam Tha River , 21°07’30”N, 101°20’56”E, ca. 790 m a.s.l., 30.v.2022, leg. Pongsak Laudee. GoogleMaps Paratype. Same data as holotype, 1 male ( CHM) GoogleMaps .

Etymology. The species is named for the type locality, Luang Namtha Province.

Description. Length of each male forewing 7.0– 7.5 mm (N = 2), holotype fore wing 7.0 mm; specimens in alcohol with head and thorax brown, abdomen yellowish with dark brown tergum, legs and forewings pale brown. Male genitalia ( Figs 1A–1E View FIGURES 1 ). Segment IX (IX) longitudinally short, tall, rectangular, expanded basally, anterior margins nearly straight, posterior margins angled below preanal appendages and above and below inferior appendages, ventral margin convex in lateral view ( Fig. 1A View FIGURES 1 ) and subrectangular with wide, mesal U-shaped notch posteriorly in ventral view ( Fig. 1C View FIGURES 1 ). Preanal appendages (Pre) oval in lateral view but nearly circular in dorsal view ( Figs 1A, 1B View FIGURES 1 ). Segment X subtriangular and slightly curved upward, with moderately pointed apex and pair of short ventrolateral processes in lateral view; about twice as long as preanal appendages, tapering to blunt apex, with slender and long ventrolateral processes in dorsal view ( Figs 1A, 1B View FIGURES 1 ). In lateral view, inferior appendages each with long basoventral lobe curved slightly dorsad, with long, straight distal spine; main body oval; subapicodorsal lobe erect basally and gradually curved apicodorsad; subapical harpago tubular and round apically ( Fig. 1A View FIGURES 1 ). In ventral view, basoventral lobe of each inferior appendage bulbular basally, bent in 75 o angle at mid-length, slender subapically, with long, straight spine apically ( Fig. 1C View FIGURES 1 ). Phallus sturdy, tubular, bent downward subapically in lateral view ( Fig. 1D View FIGURES 1 ); phallobase thick ( Fig. 1D View FIGURES 1 ); paramere spines (Par) slender ( Figs 1D, 1E View FIGURES 1 ).

Diagnosis. The new species is a member of subgenus Athripsodina Kimmins 1963 ( Morse 1975). The male genitalia of the new species are similar to those of several other species including C. forcipata ( Forsslund 1935) and C. nankingensis ( Hwang 1957) in Sichuan and Jiangsu Provinces in China, respectively. The genitalia of these two species, including also the new species, are similar in lateral view. Ceraclea luangnamthaensis n. sp. is distinguished from these species by its preanal appendages which are circular in lateral view, unlike C. forcipata and C. nankingensis that have elongate preanal appendages.
