Diacheila arctica (Gyllenhal) View in CoL

Diacheila arctica View in CoL is a Holarctic species found in the extreme north and is very rare ( Lindroth 1961). It was previously recorded from northern Alberta, Labrador, Northwest Territories, and Alaska (Fig. 2c). Lindroth (1961) noted that records from Hudson Bay could not be located, thus it is unknown if the specimens were from the coast of Québec, Ontario, or Manitoba. However, it has been collected in Churchill, Manitoba (www.gbif.org/ species/4473311). Our record is the first for the territory of Nunavut (Fig. 2c). Diacheila arctica View in CoL occurs in habitats similar to those of other species in Elaphrinae View in CoL , occurring at the margins of ponds, lakes, and streams in boreal forest.
