Falsocaenia ecuadorensis sp. nov.

Type material. Holotype, female, Ecuador, “ Bucay , F. Ohaus, 15.vii.1911 ”, without other data ( ZMPA).

Diagnosis. It can be distinguished from F. longehumeralis by body coloration with almost all elytra dark brown and by the presence of small testaceous humeral spots (not stripes), further in the shape of pronotum with anterior angles rounded.

Description. Whole body dark brown, except small humeral spots on elytra yellow ( Fig. 3 ). Eyes mediumsized, distance between eyes 1.3x longer than maximal eye diameter in female. Both, maxillary and labial, palpi brown. Antennomere 3 slightly (1.1x) shorter than 4 ( Fig. 32 ). Pronotum at base ( Fig. 18 ) 1.7x wider than long medially, anterior pronotal angles rounded. Elytra 3.3x longer than humeral width, slightly (1.5x) widened in posterior 2/5. Female genitalia slender ( Fig. 75 ), coxites approached distally. Body length: 8.9 mm, humeral width: 2.3 mm.

Etymology. The name is derived from the state of occurrence.

Remark. Left and right antennomeres 10–11 of the holotype missing.
