TYPE LOCALITY: "El Paso, [El Paso Co.], Texas [ USA]."

DISTRIBUTION: New Mexico and W Texas ( USA) to Coahuila, Chihuahua, and Durango ( Mexico).

COMMENTS: Most divergent species of the genus ( Bolles, 1981), and probable primitive sister-species to remainder (Hafner, 1981). Reviewed by Best et al. (1990b, Mammalian Species, 365).
