TYPE LOCALITY: "Upper St. Mary's Lake, [Glacier Co.,] Montana." [ USA] .
DISTRIBUTION: NE Washington to W Montana ( USA), and SE British Columbia ( Canada).
SYNONYMS: simulons (A. Howell, 1922).
COMMENTS: Subgenus Neotamias . Patterson and Heaney (1987) suggested that simulons may be specifically distinct from ruficaudus , but the nature of contact between the two forms is not known.
