Comments. Specimens of R. humboldti from the states of Alagoas, Ceará and Maranh ã o have been misidentified as R. whitei ( Breddin, 1898) in the literature ( Moreira & Campos 2012; Cordeiro & Moreira 2015; Takiya et al. 2016; Rodrigues et al. 2021). The latter species does not occur in these states. Although both share some characteristics such as a similar color pattern, the enlarged male hind femur, and the venter of the body with minute black denticles, the presence of a long spine on the male hind trochanter (longer than any spine on the hind tibia) is exclusive to R. whitei and can immediately distinguish them. Contrastingly, R. humboldti has a few tiny black pegs on the male hind trochanter.
