Length: 8–12.5mm (78 specimens).

Collecting period: August – April.

Head: Black, anterior part of clypeus and labrum brown, posterior part of clypeus black, palpi brown to black; distributed with dense punctation; cranium vested with predominantly dark, and isolated golden, setae; head including eyes slightly broader than anterior width of pronotum.

Antennae: Dark brown to black, A1 to A3 light brown, vested with depressed, short, golden and dark setae; antennomeres triangularly dilated from A4 or A5 onwards, A10 broader than long.

Pronotum: Red-brown to brown with a semicircular black or dark brown spot at apex; surface anterior to transverse depression finely, densely and irregularly punctate or rugose, surface behind transverse depression with more coarse punctation; vested with anteriorly directed erect, black and golden setae; length:width ratio 1.15:1 (broadest in middle).

Scutellum: Brown, finely punctate, almost without setae.

Elytra: Basal third red-brown to brown, remainder black, margined posteriorly by two yellowish pigmented, slightly curved maculae (spanning from the lateral margin to mid-way towards suture), which bears dense, light golden, depressed, setae; between these maculae a semicircular sickle-like pattern of light golden setae; apical third with a pale pigmented transverse fascia with light golden setae; basal third regularly and deeply punctate in rows, (only rows 7 and 8 developed within black region), diameter of punctures larger than interstices, interstices with tubercles, apex densely and very finely punctate; basal third with erect golden and dark setae, the black part with posteriorly directed and semi-decumbent, predominantly dark and isolated golden setae; length:width ratio 2.2:1.

Legs: Dark brown to black, with dense, erect, golden setae; tibiae with longitudinal carinae.

Ventral surface: Abdomen dark brown to black, pro- and mesothorax brown, metathorax black or brown, with dense, depressed, golden setae.

Aedeagus: Asymmetrical, with tooth-like structures.

Distribution: Indonesia (Sumatra, Java), Malaysia (Borneo, Sabah).

Differential diagnosis to T. auratofasciata: In T. auratofasciata the posterior transverse fascia is mostly pigmented, whereas in T. javana this fascia consists only of pattern-forming setae; distribution, ultimate abdominal ventrites and aedeagi are different.
