Length: 6.5–9mm (39 specimens).

Collecting period: August – February, April.

Head: Black, glossy, anterior part of clypeus, labrum and palpi brown, posterior part of clypeus brown to black; distributed with fine and diffuse punctation; cranium vested with erect pale setae; head including eyes slightly broader than anterior width of pronotum.

Antennae: Dark brown to black, A1 to A4 paler, vested with predominantly brown, depressed setae; antennomeres triangularly dilated from A5 or A6 onwards, A10 broader than long.

Pronotum: Red-brown to brown, anterior to transverse depression dark brown to black, apex with a narrow brown to red-brown stripe; surface finely and diffusely punctate; anterior to transverse depression vested with predominantly anteriorly directed, erect, pale and dark setae, apex with dense pale setae, posterior third also with longer, posteriorly directed dark setae; length:width ratio 1.14:1 (broadest at middle).

Scutellum: Brown, finely punctate, vested with few pale setae.

Elytra: Basal part red-brown to brown, remainder black, anterior to middle with a yellowish pigmented transverse fascia, which is vested with pale setae, posterior third with a transverse fascia of pattern-forming dense, pale setae, sometimes reduced to a circular macula; basal half regularly and deeply punctate in rows, with small tubercles, rows 1 and 3 to 6 reduced to fine ridges within the black part, diameter of punctures larger than interstices, interstices with tubercles, apex finely and diffusely punctate; basal part with erect dark and pale setae, the black part with posteriorly directed and semi-decumbent, isolated, erect, dark setae, apex with predominantly longer, pale setae; length:width ratio 2.18:1.

Legs: Dark brown to black, femora at least basally paler, sometimes also tibiae with a pale stripe, with dense, erect, pale setae; tibiae without carinae.

Ventral surface: Abdomen dark brown to black, thorax brown, with few, pale setae.

Aedeagus: Distinct asymmetrical, with tooth-like structures.

Distribution: Malaysia, Indonesia (Sumatra, Java).

Etymology: We refer to the similarity of this species with T. cleroides .
