Luer (2006: 252) . Type:— MEXICO. Colima: Socorro Island [Revillagigedo Island], 5 May 1925, Mason 1628 (holotype CAS[6393]!, isotypes AMES[74824]! CAS[6392]!).

Distribution:— Mexico (Colima [ Fig. 6 ]).

Specimens:— MEXICO. Colima: Manzanillo, Isla Socorro , 800 m, 18 January 1958, Miranda 8746 ( MEXU!) ; Manzanillo, SE flank of cerro Evermann , 825 m, 12 April 1978, Moran 25507 ( MEXU!) ; Manzanillo, Isla Socorro, Volcán Evermann , 1000 m, 11 August 1987, Campos & Toriz 629 ( ENCB! MEXU!) .

Notes: — Acianthera unguicallosa is the westernmost species in the genus Acianthera and most likely in subtribe Pleurothallidinae . Geographically, this species is restricted to Socorro Island, in Revillagigedo Archipelago (Pacific ocean), almost 693 km away from Manzanillo coast, Colima, Mexico.
