Department Alta Verapaz: Chamá to Cobán, 3,000 ft, 15 August 1920, Johnson 901 (holotype AMES[74369]! isotypes F[867639]! US [1081162]).

Brenesia costaricensis Schlechter (1923: 200) ; Pleurothallis lateralis Williams (1956: 84) replacement name for Brenesia costaricensis Schltr. , not Pleurothallis costaricensis Rolfe (1917: 80) , nor Pleurothallis costaricensi s Schlechter

(1918b: 395) superfluous. Type:— COSTA RICA. “Bois humides à San Pedro de San Ramón”, 1,200 m, September 1921, Brenes 117 (holotype B†, photos at AMES[105758 with analysis]! CR! lectotype AMES[339]! designated by Barringer, 1986: 4).

Distribution:— Mexico (Chiapas [ Fig. 5 ]), Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama.
