Diagnosis. Wing 4 times as long as wide; 1st tarsomere of forelegs with basal part white, 4th and 5th tarsomere dark brown; female cercus blade-like, strongly concave medially, 1.5 times as long as 8th sternum, 8th sternum strongly concave apically.
Description. Female. Body length 11.0 mm, wing length 7.5 mm. Head uniformly brown. Head without hairs, except eyes with a row of several long hairs along dorsal margin. Compound eyes black without pubescence. Antenna brown, with black hairs. Proboscis yellow brown, without hairs. Palpus yellow brown with black hairs.
Thoracic dorsum mostly dark brown, except scutellum yellow brown. Thorax mostly bare, only scutellum with dense patches of hairs on anterior margin. Mesopleuron uniformly dark brown, without hairs. Coxae uniformly yellow. Trochanters yellow with a brown rounded spot anteriorly. Femora uniformly yellow brown. Tibiae dark brown with yellow bases. 1st tarsomere white at basal 1/5, dark brown apically; 2nd and 3rd tarsomeres white; 4th and 5th tarsomeres dark brown. Claws dark brown. Hairs on legs black, except 2nd and 3rd tarsomeres with white hairs. Wing ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 7 – 8 ) narrow, 4 times as long as wide, subhyaline. Veins brown. Wing with distinct marking at distal part of R1, apical area of wing with macrotrichia. Haltere brown with black hairs. Prehaltere pale white with white hairs.
Abdomen mostly dark brown, except posterior margins of 2nd to 7th segments pale brown. Hairs on abdomen black. Terminalia ( Figs. 9–10 View FIGURES 9 – 10 ): Cercus blade-like, strongly concave medially, 1.5 times as long as 8th sternum, with black hairs. 8th sternum strongly concave apically, with black hairs.
Male. Unknown.
Type material. HOLOTYPE: Ƥ, CHINA, Yunnan, Zhaotong, Xiaocaoba, 2009. IX.15, Tingting Zhang. PARATYPE: 1Ƥ, CHINA, Yunnan, Zhaotong, Luohanba, 2009. V.29, Liangming Cao.
Distribution. China (Yunnan)
Etymology. The specific name refers to the type locality Zhaotong county.
Remarks. This new species is somewhat similar to Bittacomorphella thaiensis Alexander , but can be easily separated from it by the body being much longer, 1st tarsomere of the foreleg being white basally. In Bittacomorphella thaiensis Alexander , the 1st tarsomere of the foreleg is entirely black ( Alexander 1953).
