Host plants. Sorbus japonica (Decne.) Hedlund (Rosaceae) ( Inoue 2004), Sorbus alnifolia (Sieb. et Zucc.) C. Koch (new record), Sorbus commixta Hedl. (new record). All of the host plants were confirmed by the presence of immatures.

Distribution. Japan (Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu), South Korea (Gangwon-do, Gyeonggi-do, Gyeongsangbuk-do) (new record).

Comments. The examination of relevant types revealed no significant differences between Cacopsylla jezoensis , C. midoriae and C. moiwasana , and we propose here their synonymy. The comparison of types of Cacopsylla jezoensis , C. midoriae and C. moiwasana (ELKU, SEHU), and of a large amount of adults and immatures from various regions in Japan (NIFTS) and Korea (SNU) suggests that the three taxa are conspecific. There are no significant differences in the male and female terminalia and also in other structures, viz. genal processes, forewing venation and surface spinulation. In addition to morphological characters we examined also 714 bp mitochondrial COI sequences of several populations from across Japan showing little differences between them (max. 0.8%) (unpubl. data). For this reason, they are synonymised here.
