4. Conicera ulrichi Liu View in CoL ( Figs. 4A–E View FIGURES 4 )
Conicera ulrichi Liu, 2000: 168 View in CoL (♂, China: Yunnan).
Description. Male. Body length 1.1 mm. Frons dark brown, broader than high. Supra-antennal setae present (It was ignored in original description. See Liu 2000). Lower fronto-orbital setae absent. Lower interfrontal setae short, 1/2 length of upper interfrontal setae and the distance between each other shorter than that between upper interfrontal setae. First flagellomere dark brown, 0.22 mm long, with an aspect ratio of 2.0:1; arista 0.24 mm long, 1.09 times as long as that of first flagellomere. Palpus dark brown, slender, with short setae apically.
Thorax dark brown. Legs brown, except fore leg yellowish brown. Fore tibia with 6 small near-dorsal setulae, the uppermost being longer than the rest. Fore tarsus with posterodorsal setal palisade on all five tarsomeres. Mid femur without sense-organ. Wing length 1.18 mm. Costal index 0.40, costal ratio 2.33:1, costal setulae length 0.04 mm. The second part of costa with 4 dorsal setulae, Rs without basisetula. Thick veins brown, fine veins light gray. Membrane hyaline. Halter dark brown.
Abdominal tergites dark brown. Terminalia ( Fig. 4A View FIGURES 4 ) dark brown. Both left and right surstyli ( Figs. 4B–E View FIGURES 4 ) similar. The dorsal edge and ventral edge of surstylus almost equaled in length, so the surstylus looks square. Left surstylus with a long banded basidorsal process and 8 inner teeth along dorsal edge. Right surstylus without a basidorsal process and with 6 inner teeth along dorsal edge.
Female. Unknown.
Specimen examined. 1 ♂ (holotype), Yunnan, Mengla, 15-May-1991, Guangchun Liu .
Distribution. China (Yunnan).
Remarks. This species is similar to C. gracilis Michailovskaya, 2000 , it is distinguished from the latter by squared surstyli and shorter first flagellomere. The species differs from C. dauci (Meigen) in having a long basidorsal process of left surstylus and 6–8 inner teeth along dorsal edge of each surstylus.
