Records associated with mangroves: Barra reef near Inhambane, Mozambique, pneumatophores and stems of Avicennia mangroves ( Marshall & Pugh 2002) . Okukubi River , Kin Town, Okinawa Island, Japan, algae from mangrove forest floor ( Karasawa & Hijii 2004).
Distribution: Mozambique, Japan.
Remarks: Fortuynia rotunda is the only species of this genus that inhabits exclusively mangrove habitats.
