Records associated with mangroves: Coney Island, Lover’s lake and the “Lagoon”, Bermuda, Bostrychia on mangrove roots ( Avicennia germinans ) ( Pfingstl 2013a). Río San Juan, GriGri Lagoon, Dominican Republic, intertidal algae growing on pneumatophores of red mangrove ( Rhizophora mangle ) (Pfingstl et al. 2016).

Records from other habitats: Tobacco Bay , Whalebone Bay, Devonshire Bay and numerous other locations on the island of Bermuda, Bostrychia tenella growing on intertidal rocks—( Pfingstl & Schuster 2012b) . Río San Juan, Playa Grande, Dominican Republic, intertidal algae growing on rock; Boca Chica and Puerto Santa Bárbara, Dominican Republic, Bostrychia sp. from littoral rocks (Pfingstl et al. 2016).

Distribution: Bermuda, Dominican Republic.

Remarks: Although this species can be found occasionally in mangrove habitats, it prefers rocky coasts where it grazes predominantly on Bostrychia tenella ( Pfingstl 2013a) .
