Genus Heriades View in CoL

While we were unable to achieve species-level identification, the BBPT collected both male and female specimens of Heriades (Neotrypetes) during this project (MABC). Additionally, we reviewed specimens of the same morphospecies vouchered at the SDNHM and BBSL.

Hurd & Michener (1955) suggested the presence of Heriades occidentalis in BC; however, they did not review material from BC. To the best of our knowledge, there are no confirmed records of Heriades occidentalis in BC or BCS.

Additionally, the CARCIB team collected one male of Heriades (Physostetha) in the northern Vizcaíno Desert, BC, potentially representing a new species for science that is still currently under investigation.
