[ Type: USNM; ♀ Soledad Canyon , Organ Mountains, New Mexico, USA; May 22]
Ashmeadiella opuntiae View in CoL is widely distributed in the xeric regions of North America and specializes on the pollen from several plants in the family Cactaceae View in CoL , including Opuntia Mill. ( Fowler 2020) View in CoL . Within the BCP it has been previously reported in the Coastal Sage Matorral, and Baja California Mountains by UCRC, and Chaparral by SDNHM ( GBIF 2023). We reviewed one female collected in the Chaparral in August 1962 (CASC). Additionally, the BBPT collected this species in the Baja California Mountains in May 2022 (10 ♀, 6 ♂) and Lower Colorado Desert in May 2021 (7 ♀, 1 ♂). Voucher specimens are in MABC, and ECOAB. See fig. 241.
