This species specializes on pollen from plants in the family Fabaceae , particularly in the genus Lotus L. ( Fowler 2020). Based on current records, the range of Osmia lupinicola is restricted to the CFP. This species has been reported in the Chaparral and Baja California Mountains in Sierra Juarez by BBSL and SDNHM ( GBIF 2023). This species is particularly abundant in Sierra Juarez where it has been collected in May 1981, June 1982, May 1983, and April 1988 by SDNHM. Additionally, the BBPT collected two females in Sierra Juarez in May 2022. Voucher specimens are in MABC, and ECOAB. See fig. 263.
