Genus Barycnemis Förster, 1869 View in CoL View at ENA
Barycnemis View in CoL is a predominantly Holarctic genus with 14 species in the Nearctic region, including Mexico ( Khalaim 2002b; Horstmann 2010), and 26 species in the Palaearctic region ( Horstmann 1981; Khalaim 2004, 2015b, 2015c; Balueva et al. 2013a). Beyond the Holarctic region, the genus is known from Central America ( Khalaim & Broad 2012), Australia ( Khalaim 2015d) and tropical Asia ( Khalaim 2017c).
Five species of Barycnemis View in CoL occur in Japan ( Khalaim 2015c; Khalaim & Tereshkin 2019): B. naganoensis Khalaim , B. sugonyaevi Khalaim , B. tobiasi Khalaim View in CoL and two species listed below.
Very little is known about host range of Barycnemis . In Europe, the genus has been recorded from the coleopteran genera Byrrhus L. ( Byrrhidae ) and Bledius Leach (Staphylinidae) ( Horstmann 1981; Wyatt & Foster 1989), and in the Nearctic region one species was reared from a Pissodes species (Curculionidae) ( Horstmann 2010).
