Genus Gelanes Horstmann, 1981 View in CoL

Gelanes View in CoL is a Holarctic genus with 15 species in the Nearctic region, including Mexico ( Horstmann 2013b; Khalaim & Ruíz-Cancino 2017, 2020), and 19 species in the Palaearctic region ( Khalaim & Blank 2011; Kim et al. 2013; Khalaim 2017b; Khalaim & Tereshkin 2019). Eight species were recorded from South Korea ( Kim et al. 2013) and two species from China ( Sheng & Sun 2014).

Eight species of Gelanes View in CoL occur in Japan ( Khalaim 2017b): G. clypeatus (Horstmann) View in CoL , G. cuspidatus Khalaim View in CoL , G. protritus Kim & Lee , and five species listed below.

Species of the genus are parasitoids of xyelid sawflies ( Xyelidae : mainly Xyela spp. ) on coniferous plants in Europe ( Khalaim & Blank 2011) and North America ( Horstmann 2013b).
