DISSOMORPHIA WARREN View in CoL
(Figs 14, 118, 119)
Dissomorphia Warren (1894) View in CoL . Type species: Halia australiaria Guenée, [1858] View in CoL . Australia.
Description
Head. Chaetosemata oval, not strongly extended across head. Antenna of male bipectinate.
Wings (Fig. 14). Buff. Forewing with discal spot in form of a streak with a pale centre in male. Female with a more banded appearance.
Male genitalia (Fig. 118). Uncus triangular, setose, with setae distributed regularly although not densely; horns lacking. Gnathos with prominent medial element. Valva: sacculus lacking complexities of the type species of Itame .
Pregenital abdomen of male. Sternum A8 not modified.
Female genitalia (Fig. 119). Ostium area with simple sclerotization. Bursa copulatrix: ductus bursae narrow, sclerotized; expanding into pear-shaped corpus bursae with prominent signum .
Diagnosis. The uncus of D. australiaria resembles that occurring in the type species of Itame while the valva is similar to that in Isturgia . The genitalia are sufficiently distinctive for the species (and thus genus) to be recognized.
Distribution. Australia.
Comments. Despite similarities between the male genitalia of Dissomorphia and Isturgia , no synapomorphy has been identified to synonymize the two genera.
Number of species. One species ( D. australiaria ), with seven synonyms, was included in McQuillan & Edwards (1996).
