Plateoplia Warren, 1909 . Type species: Tephrinopsis ochriciliata Warren, 1901 , a junior synonym of Tephrina acrobelia Wallengren, 1875 . Angola: Cubal River.
Description
Head. Chaetosemata extended. Antenna fasciculate, not bipectinate.
Wings (Fig. 3). Rounded, ochreous with terminal, postmedial, and submedial lines.
Male genitalia ( Fig. 68 View Figures 68–71 ). Uncus triangular, large, with spine-like setae. Gnathos prominent with large, triangular medial element. Valva: almost completely divided; costa with spine-like setae; sacculus with digitate process. Saccus long, pointed.
Pregenital abdomen of male ( Fig. 69 View Figures 68–71 ). Sternum A8 weakly modified along margin.
Female genitalia ( Figs 70, 71 View Figures 68–71 ). Ostium bursae: sterigma complex. Corpus bursae small, elongated, not round, without spines, and with a small signum with a single small tooth.
Diagnosis. The shape of the valva is distinctive. The corpus bursae has a signum and lacks spines, unlike the densely spinose condition in Platypepla and in many species of Milocera .
Distribution. Southern and East Africa.
Foodplants. Ximenia spp. (Olacaceae) .
Comments. Plateoplia belongs to the Platypepla - group of genera.
Number of species. The genus is monotypic.
