Remarks. Wohlfahrtia atra Aldrich can be distinctively identified by the black thorax with faint silvery pollinosity and the entirely shiny black abdomen. The male terminalia are reminiscent of those of W. vigil , and considering the variation in abdominal color pattern shown by this species (e.g., Verves 1982, fig. 326), a taxonomic revision specifically focusing on these two species is recommended. We have compared the descriptions provided by Aldrich (1926) and Xue & Fei (2011) of Wohlfahrtia atra and Sinotibetomyia curvifemura, respectively, and found them to be a sufficiently good match to consider these two nominal taxa as conspecific. Therefore, we propose Wohlfahrtia Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1889 as a senior synonym of Sinotibetomyia Xue, 2011, syn. nov., and Wohlfahrtia atra Aldrich, 1926 as a senior synonym of Sinotibetomyia curvifemura Xue & Fei, 2011, syn. nov.
