Arthrobotrys tongdianensis X. Zhang & X.Y. Yang. sp. nov. ( FIGURE 3 View FIGURE 3 )
Index Fungorum number: IF559864
Etymology: —The species name “tongdianensis” refers to the name of the sample collection site: Tongdian Town, Lanping County, Yunnan Province, China.
Material examined: — CHINA, Yunnan Province, Lanping County, Tongdian River (N 26°49.2688′ E 99°27.9420′), from terrestrial soil, 12 February 2018, Li Xianfu. Holotype CGMCC3.20942 View Materials , deposited in the China General Microbiological Culture Collection Center. Ex-type culture DLUCC27-1 , preserved in the Dali University Culture Collection. Description: — Saprobic on soil. Isolation grew slowly on CMA, reaching a colony-diameter of 55 mm at 26°C after 14 days. Colonies white, cottony. Mycelium colourless, smooth, septate, branched. Conidiophores hyaline, smooth, erect, septate, branched, 111.2–357.3 (216.46) μm long, 2.1–5.4 (3.43) µm wide at the base, gradually tapering upwards to a width of 1.8–3.3 (2.51) µm at the apex, bearing a cluster conidium at the apex. Conidia hyaline, smooth, ellipsoid or obovate, 1-septate, rounded at the apex, the basal cell is smaller than the distal cell. 21.2–35.1 (25.97) × 11.1–16.0 (13.29) µm. Chlamydospores spherical, ellipsoidal or cylindrical, smooth, in chains. Capturing nematodes by adhesive three-dimensional networks.
Additional material examined: — CHINA, Yunnan Province, Nujiang City, Lanping County, Tongdian River , N 26°49.2688′ E 99°27.9420′, from terrestrial soil, 12 February 2018, Li Xianfu. Living culture LP261 GoogleMaps .
Taxonomic Discussion: —Phylogenetically, Arthrobotrys tongdianensis cluster together with A. koreensis with a high support value (96% MLBS and 0.93 BYPP). Morphologically, there is a distinct difference between them, the conidiophores of A. tongdianensis are branched, while A. koreenisi conidiophores are unbranched ( Wu et al. 2012). Based on the above, combined with phylogenetic and morphology analysis, we propose this species isolate as a new species of Arthrobotrys .
