The name refers to the collector of the holotype (see below).

Male

Frons brown, a little wider than long, the dense microsetae reduced, and with 42­74 hairs. Antials further apart than either is from an anterolateral bristle, which is very slightly higher on frons. Pre­ocellars further apart than either is from a mediolateral, which is slightly lower on frons. Postpedicels yellowish brown and subglobose. Palps yellow and as Fig. 20 View FIGURES 20 ­ 21 . Pale brown labrum slightly narrower than palp. Labella pale. Thorax brown on top but more orange on sides. Scutellum with an anterior pair of hairs (only as strong as nearest hairs at rear of scutum) and a posterior pair of bristles. Abdominal tergites brown except for yellow anterior third to half of T1, T2 and T6, and with sparse small hairs except at rear of T6. Venter straw yellow, with hairs below segments 3­5 and a pair of bristles at rear of 5. Legs yellow apart from brown dorsal edge to hind femur. With 4­5 neardorsal spines on front tibia. Mid tibia, apart from basal pair of bristles, with a pre­apical anterior bristle, 1­2 small spines above this and four spines beyond hair palisade, which extends about 0.6x length. Hind tibia lacks pre­apical isolated bristles. Base of hind femur as Fig. 21 View FIGURES 20 ­ 21 . Wings 1.9­2.1 mm long. Costal index 0.50­0.51. Costal ratios 6.0­8.1: 1.9­2.6: 1. Costal cilia 0.05­0.06 mm long. Hair at base of vein 3 subequal to costal cilia of section 1. Veins brownish yellow except 7 only discernible with critical lighting. Membrane only very faintly tinged grey. Haltere pale yellow.

HOLOTYPE male, Malawi, Zomba, 1100 m, at light, 24­27 November 1980, J. Londt & B. Stuckenberg ( Natal Museum – 1535Ad – 5­107). PARATYPE male, Kasungu National Park, Lifupa Camp, 1000 m, 9­10 December 1980, J. Londt & B. Stuckenberg ( Natal Museum – 1333Aa – 5­110).
