Diagnosis. Postclypeus prominent with blackish fasciae along submedian parts of transverse grooves laterally. Forewing with prominent infuscations on radial, radiomedial, medial and mediocubital crossveins; marginal series of minute fuscous spots present on apex of longitudinal veins of apical cells. Male opercula short, green with thin black margin. Timbal covers green with black triangular spot anteriorly and white spot covered with white wax powder laterally.
Remarks. Distant (1881) described Pomponia kama but later erected the genus Mata Distant, 1906 and transferred this species to Mata as the type species. The type locality of this species is “Darjeeling of Indian state of West Bengal”. In the present study, M. kama is reported in China for the first time.
