Distribution type: strict endemism only known from Albania (Szederjesi 2017).

Known habitat in Albania: forest brook, cave.

Remark: The re-collection of the species in 2019 proved that E. muranyii , similarly to its Central European montane sister species Eisenia lucens (Waga, 1857) ( Szederjesi & Csuzdi 2015) , has the ability of bioluminescence.
