N o t e: The specimens were compared with samples from Bolivia identified by Kormilev as boliviana and no essential differences were noted. However the key to 89 American species of the genus Mezira by KORMILEV (1971) leads to M. proseni KORMILEV 1953 from Argentina and not clearly to M. boliviana. This key is outdated due to several additional species which were described later. KORMILEV (1974) described M. surinamensis from Surinam, which also runs to M. proseni in the abovementioned key showing only minor differences. As no comparative material of these 3 taxa is available, their taxonomic status remains unclear and needs revision.
