Urocaris longicaudata View in CoL – Borradaile, 1917: 354.

Material examined. (1A-D) 1? ♂, 3 ovig. ♀, with 3 tubes of appendages, Amirante Islands , stn E.15, 70 m, J.S.Gardiner Coll., 15 October 1905, ZMC I.9600.1. (2) 1 ovig. ♀, CL 4.2 mm, North Malé Atoll, Maldive Islands, depth?, J.S.Gardiner Collection, ZMC I.9600.2.

10° (♂)-12° (♀), dorsal carina well developed, ventral margin concave, dentition 1+8-9/2-3 (dorsal and ventral distal teeth sometimes minute), hepatic spine at about same level as epigastric spine; third abdominal tergite posterodorsally strongly produced, non-carinate, posteromedian apex terminally blunt; with small rounded béc ocellaire; second pereiopods with chelae not bowed, fingers of with few (1-2/3-4) small, acute teeth, without proximal diastema; dactylus with distal tooth largest, opposing well marked notch, carpus subequal to palm length palm; third pereiopod dactyl biunguiculate, about 0.18 of propod length, accessory tooth well developed, not adpressed to corpus, propod with pair of long distoventral spines, about 0.4 of dactyl length, two pairs of longer distal ventral spines, three single smaller ventral spines.

Systematic position. Periclimenes amirantei closely resembles Periclimenes holthuisi Bruce, 1969 , and P. speciosus Okuno, 2004 , sharing the following characters:

Rostrum with well developed dorsal lamina, ventrally concave, carapace with epigastric spine, third abdominal tergum posterodorsally produced, non-carinate, second pereiopods with chelae not bowed, fingers of second pereiopod with few (1–4) larger, acute, proximal teeth, ambulatory dactyls biunguiculate, dactyl about 4 times longer than basal width, about 0.2 of propod length, without adpressed accessory tooth.
