Coluber funebris Schlegel, 1837
Col. [uber] funebris Schlegel, 1837: 308 , footnote.— Type locality. Not given.—Onomatophore. Not given.
Status. A nomen nudum.
Comments. Schlegel credited this taxon and Col.[uber] sinuatus to Oppel & Reinwardt. Most probably, these names were proposed on museum labels, but no description was ever published. Nevertheless, Schlegel provided a short but joint description of both nominal taxa, and placed them in the synonymy of Tropidonotus quincunciatus . This joint description leads us to consider both names as nomina nuda. Günther (1858) also provided a joint definition of these two taxa, but referred to them three specimens from “ Ceylon ”, which are now referable to Xenochrophis asperrimus .
