Tropidonotus piscator ornatus Wall, 1907
[ Tropidonotus piscator ] var. ornata Wall, 1907: 862 , pl. 4, fig. 3.—Type locality. Not given.—Onomatophores. Syntypes, not specified.
Status. A subjective junior synonym of Amphiesma flavipunctatum Hallowell, 1861 , now Xenochrophis flavipunctatus . Previously, this taxon had been synonymized with Natrix piscator by Smith (1943: 294).
Comments. Wall (1907) regarded this taxon as a variety of Tropidonotus piscator and provided a valid description. Wall obviously referred many specimens under this name. According to the morphological characters provided by Wall, especially the dorsal pattern speckled, spotted and blotched with pink, orange or vermilion, and records from Yunnan and Myanmar, we refer this variety to Amphiesma flavipunctatum Hallowell, 1861 .
