Paroxythrips agathidis (Morison) comb. n.

Oxythrips agathidis Morison, 1941: 204 .

This species is very similar to the type species described below, but is known only from Australia in association with Agathidis [ Araucariaceae ]. A brief description of this species is available on the web (Mound et al. 2016), and in addition to the comments in the key it is distinguished from the type species by following character states: in P. agathidis ocellar setae pair III arising at the mid-point between the hind ocelli, the metascutum has CPS, the fore wing second vein has more than 12 setae, the tergal posteromarginal craspeda have teeth laterally ( Fig. 1 ), and the tergite VIII posteromarginal comb complete.

Specimens examined. Australia, Queensland: Eudlo , 2 females, damaging new leaves on Agathis robusta , i.2012, DJT1314 ( QDPC) ; Brisbane, Sherwood , 1 male, 14.iii.2002 ( QDPC) ; Brisbane, Dutton Park , 1 female on Agathis sp., 18.xii.2013, K. M. Thomson ( QDPC) .
