Taxonomic notes: The genus includes 38 species (including the nominotypical subspecies) and 2 subspecies distributed mainly in the Oriental region comprising India, China, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand and with few species in the Australian tropics ( Holloway 2001, Kirti et al. 2014). The wing shape of the Teulisna species varies, but broadly categorized into the typical group having the forewing tornus falcate, and the bitecta group with elongate and elliptical forewing. Majority of the species are sexually dimorphic where males show varying degrees of forewing modifications with the brushes of scales at the base of costa and in the cell. Holloway (1982, 2001) identified male genitalia characters typical to the genus including squarish frame of the vinculum, slightly indented at the distal margin, supporting a membrane which often holds diverse setose patches, scent pencils and other structures, saccular process of the valva has dense setae or apical spines and aedeagus vesica has diverticula which may or may not have cornuti. In India, Teulisna is represented by 11 species, mainly from the North-East and Western Ghats ( Singh et al. 2021e).
