Megachile propinqua Smith 1879: 74 View in CoL . Female. Type locality: Ega [= Tefé]; Tapajos and Tunantins [ Brazil]. Type repository: BNHM 17a2666. Examined. The specimen is labelled “ proxima Smith View in CoL ” and, presumably, Smith changed the published name to avoid synonymy with Megachile proxima Smith 1870: 177 View in CoL (= Chalicodoma (Pseudomegachile) lanata (F)).
