Geographic distribution. Brazil ( Kirkaldy & Torre-Bueno 1909), Peru ( De Carlo 1960), Bolivia, Paraguay ( Nieser 1975).
Distribution in Peru. Ucayali ( De Carlo 1960), Junín ( De Carlo 1960; Estévez & J. Polhemus 2007).
Notes. Described from Pondichéry, India ( Dufour 1863), but the specimen was mislabeled ( Nieser 1975). Records from Argentina ( Kirkaldy & Torre-Bueno 1909; Estévez & Armúa de Reyes 2003; Estévez et al. 2003) have been discounted by Estévez & J. Polhemus (2007) and Mazzucconi et al. (2022). Some of the specimens of B. micantulum reported by De Carlo (1930, 1938) actually correspond to this species ( Nieser 1975; Estévez & J. Polhemus 2007).
