Geographic distribution. Mexico (Champion 1901), Guatemala ( Hungerford 1948), Costa Rica ( Jaczewski 1931a), Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire ( Nieser 1969a), Colombia ( Kirkaldy 1899a), Venezuela ( Kirkaldy & Torre-Bueno 1909), Brazil ( Fieber 1851a), Ecuador ( Kirkaldy 1899a), Peru ( Hungerford 1948), Bolivia ( Kirkaldy 1899d), Paraguay ( Hungerford 1948), Argentina ( Bachmann 1961a) .
Distribution in Peru. Amazonas, San Martín, Junín ( Hungerford 1948).
Notes. Originally described from Brazil and Cuba, with specimens from the latter country actually corresponding to C. nigripennis Fabricius, 1803 . Both species were confused in the literature until the late 1930s ( Hungerford 1948).
