Geographic distribution. Curaçao ( Nieser & Alkins-Koo 1991), Trinidad & Tobago ( Hynes 1948), Colombia ( Cummings 1933), Venezuela ( De Carlo 1938), Guyana ( Uhler 1884), Suriname ( De Geer 1773), French Guiana (Amyot & Serville 1843), Brazil ( Cummings 1933), Peru ( Perez-Goodwyn 2006), Bolivia ( De Carlo 1938), Paraguay ( Cummings 1933), Argentina ( Río & Achával 1904).
Distribution in Peru. Loreto, Huánuco ( Perez-Goodwyn 2006).
Note. South American records of L. grandis (Linnaeus, 1758) from outside the area defined by Perez-Goodwyn (2006) for that species are considered to be L. maximus by the same author.
