Distribution in Türkiye: Kura-Aras River basin. ― Distribution in river basins: 24-Aras. ― General distribution: Eurasia: Kura-Aras River basin, Caspian Sea basin ( Georgia, Iran, and Türkiye). ― Distribution in ecoregions: 434-Kura - South Caspian Drainages. ― Habitat: This ubiquitous species inhabits all kinds of water bodies with standing or slowly flowing waters, such as larger streams, rivers, reservoirs, and lakes, as well as moderately polluted water bodies. Freshwater.
Economic importance. Locally consumed but of no commercial importance.
