Described from Egypt, and recorded by Priesner (1964) from ‘‘N. Africa, Sinai, Palestine’’, this species was recorded from Iran on the basis of one female and one male on leaves of Berberis sp. ( Alavi and Kamali 2003). No specimens have been examined by the present authors, and the following diagnosis is derived from Priesner (1931, 1965).
Diagnosis
Body and legs dark brown to black, fore tibiae yellow towards apex, outer margins dark, middle and hind tibiae dark, distal apex pale yellow; all tarsi pale yellow; antennal segment II a little paler at apex, III yellow, IV–VI yellow in basal twothirds; major setae on head, thorax and base of forewings dark. Head slightly longer than broad with postocular setae well developed, a little shorter than the eyes, blunt or capitate; head with maxillary stylets 0.26–0.31 of head width apart, retracted to postocular setae. Antennal segment III with one sensorium. Pronotum with five pairs of blunt setae; antero-marginals well developed. Fore tarsus without tooth (cf. Figures 4, 5, 7 View Figures 1–9 ). Mesopresternum boat shaped. Forewing with 10–12 duplicated cilia; sub-basal setae S1 and S2 capitate, S3 pointed. Pelta triangular. Tergite IX setae S1, S2 and S3 pointed. Tube short. Male smaller, fore tarsi with small tooth.
